Visitor

This little fellow popped in for a visit yesterday. I was trying to get a great macro shot of his little face but he kept climbing onto my camera. This is the best I could do.

I have begun to get myself ready for school this year. Today, I dyed 10kg rice for my kindergarten sensory tub. Looks just so inviting, I want to play in it myself.

Optical Illusion

This building is all mirrored and while queueing to go into the art gallery I noticed this weird sight.  Behind me was a brown tennis court and grass and a rusted iron fence which were all reflected {although warped} in the building. The egg headed guy bottom right is my DH.  He certainly looks alien.

Itinerants

Since we take our chooks on holiday with us, we needed a chook house for them so using a bit of ingenuity and some bits and pieces, my girls have a Taj Mahal that gets demolished and moved to a new section of fresh long grass each day.

This brick wall made sitting at the nursery for an hour less of a problem as I found it easy on the eye.

Jan 3rd Pic

Some days, you wake up and decide you would have been better off if you hadn't left home. Today was such a day for me. We began optimistically enough, as we had run out of pavers to finish the back bit, we rang the landscaper where we had gotten the originals from and he said he had none left but the place where they make them was open today after the holidays, so we could get some there.  We drove to the landscapers (20 minutes) to return 3 pallets and get our refund of $66 back for them, but the man who was working today knew nothing about it so we left empty handed while he said he'd rummage through paperwork to see if he could find out anything about it. We said we'd go to the paver place and see how he went on our return.

When we got to the paver place  (another 20 minute drive) there was a sign on the gate saying that they would be open TOMORROW! So back we went to the landscapers, where Mr Intelligent! hadn't found anything, so we decided to return tomorrow when 'SHE who knows all' will be working.

Then as Roger was walking back to the car he noticed all our coolant had escaped from the radiator and made a massive puddle under the front of the car. On opening the bonnet, we found a big hole in the radiator hose so we were going NOWHERE!!!!  Now being a woman who likes to have everything covered, I pay out a small fortune for RACT Roadside Assistance and have had very little use to call them over the years.  Anyway, we were told the wait would be an hour, so here we were sitting out in the midday sun (33 degrees which is HOT for us Tasmanians) until, 80 minutes later the man turned up, took a look and said "bad luck you are fourth client down the list I cant do anything for 3 more hours for you". Luckily he took pity on us and gave us a lift into the town so we could at least do something, get a drink and get out of the sun. I spotted the library and that's where we spent the next 3 hours till he came back to drive us the 20 minutes back to the shack. Its a bummer there is NO public transport here to the beach.  Anyway my photo today was taken in the library of a leadlight window that I got tired of looking at by the end of the day.

Happy New Year

 At Primrose:

I awoke to dolphins playing in the bay and I just knew that I will be in for a great New Year.
It is always a good day for fishing when the dolphins are about so later in the day we caught 9 flathead which will feed us for the next few days.

Whenever we go away for weeks like we are at the moment, we always take our chooks on holiday with us.  Here they are having fun playing in the long grass.

Between Christmas and New Year, my DH has been working his butt off, turning our Primrose backyard from this.....................

To this...........
Pretty impressive I think, I am so grateful to have a husband who is good with his hands.

Best wishes to everyone for a  New Year where all your dreams are fulfilled.
Remember 2012 will be a 1 pic a day year on my blog even though I kicked off with a few more.
Don't forget to follow me on my NO SPEND YEAR on my other blog:
