Contrast in the Desert

When holidaying in Western Australia, I was quite taken by the colour of these wild flowers among the red dust.

Scavenger Hunt -Something Crooked

The concept of 'something crooked' made the bearded wonder suggest I go to state parliament and photograph the politicians but at the risk of being sued, I think I will stick to the selection that I have here on offer. The crookedness may come from the subject matter or the crook photography skills.  Enjoy!

Oriental Beauty

I found these postcards among my possessions recently so the bearded wonder took them away and brought them back framed and ready to hang in my Japanese style spare bedroom.

Gorgeous Gorge

The gorgeous Launceston's Cataract Gorge, only a few minutes walk out of the city.

When I was out feeding the chooks today, I spotted some stray bits of wheat that had grown beautifully. It has come at a perfect time because tomorrow I had planned to teach my kindergarten class how bread gets to our table. So now I can show them the real origins of flour.

Belated Scavenger Hunt - A book you would recommend.

As a alternative lifestyler of the 70's and 80's, John Seymour's book on self sufficiency was my bible. But alas, it was written for the Northern Hemisphere and I was forever having to recalculate to get the seasons correct for under down under (Tasmania). Now I have found a wonderful book which is made just for us, (Aussies that is). It has everything from making a worm farm to butchering your own meat. Will be very handy for my return to the sustainability life when I retire next year.

Bloom'n Computers Grrrrrr!!!!!

As the title suggests I am having all kinds of problems with my computer at the moment so I am unable to host the scavenger hunt this weekend. I will go to work on Tuesday and bring home my work laptop so hopefully I will have it up and running my then, my apologies to all my lovely people who usually join in. I am on my iPad at the moment and can't upload photos even though I have the Blogger app, it keeps defaulting to my othe blog not this one. It's sad that my photo a day challenge for a year has been wrecked.  Oh. Well when you are at the mercy of technology there is not a lot to do about it.
