When the Boats Come In.

Hobart is the city of festivals and this week we had another one. This time it was the Tallships festival with 5 days of nautical activities. This boat is the Young Endeavour and had just sailed into port. The crew is on the yard arms.

Not all ships were tall. It was the day after Talk like a Pirate Day and this fellow was still talking like a pirate.

The Lord Nelson

The Tecla - a dutch herring boat
A beautiful old steam boat, Preana

Even the spectator craft were pretty.

  1. Seeing the young endeavour brought back some memories ... I think that was the tall ship I went on in Sydney many years ago. The photo you have also brings memories of when we lived at Rose Bay in Hobart in about 1979. We were right on the waterfront and I used to love watching the boats go by. xox

  2. So beautiful. I love the old ships with their masts and sails. I'm glad there are still some around.
