Recently I was lucky to visit Tasmania's government house. The home of our governor and the Queen's residence when she is visiting Tasmania. It was built in 1857. |
Part of a sculpture by the late Stephen Walker |
This staircase built in front of the window was so that the royals could make a discrete exit from a function if things were getting a bit boring. It takes them to their private quarters. |
The gorgeous views of the Derwent River. |
and the Tasman Bridge. |
The 35 acres at Government house has many buildings for the caretaker and gardening staff to live and work in. It's like a small village. |
It was a magnificent few hours and in my next post I will feature the gardens. |
