Rambling Along Roches Beach

Across the other side of the bay where I live is Roches Beach. I thought the beach deserved some exploration.

Further around the beach we come to Lauderdale and the remains of a groyne that was used to stop the sand from washing into the canal that was dug through in the 1800's as a shortcut to Hobart BUT it failed as the sand silted up the canal continuously. No ship ever went through as hoped.

The canal that leads into Ralph's Bay.
