Coral Shadows

My grand daughter was playing with plastic trees as part of a wild animal kit.  She insisted on calling them coral as she had laid them out on blue paper which she called water. Later in the day, I looked and saw this shadow had appeared. It looked appealing to my eye.

Loiusianna Iris

I spotted these in my neighbour's yard and I felt like a paparazzi as I used my zoom lens to focus in on these from a distance. Hence the image not being perfectly clear but the colour is gorgeous.

I have decided to make this the last one for awhile because I think people get too busy coming up to Christmas to play. So here we go for the last time this year.

The Great Gunnera

I have this plant growing in my garden and its a giant. It reaches 8 feet high and each leaf would be 3 or 4 feet long and 2 feet wide. It is a monster. Each winter it disappers into the ground only to reappear again in spring. Here are some photos of bits of the plant.

A leaf waiting for the great unfurling.

It's fruit!

Glimpses of Monet

Not far from my house is an iris farm and each day lately I have been admiring the flowers through the fence. Today, I look my camera and I feel that I should have been there last week as they are now passed their prime. They are grown for the rhizome, not as a cut flower. They still looked pretty.

A Tug or Two

Under the Tasman Bridge, Hobart.  In January 1975, this bridge was hit by a ship passing underneath and the bridge was broken in two.  It divided a city. Overnight, ferries were needed to take passengers across to work. The ferry system remained for the duration of the rebuild, but alas no longer run for commuters. They have now built an additional bridge incase something weird ever happens like that again.

Scavenger Hunt - Our Pets - Asia

One of my 3 girls. I don't have names, they are just called "the girls".
Independent  and sleepy cat. I have had her about 4 years. Her black cat sibling decided to hitch a ride to Western Australia when my neighbours moved there 18 months ago.

Two Tasmanian Tallships

I have a thing for tall ships ever since Australia's Bi-Centenary celebrations in 1988 when tall ships visited Tasmania from all over the world. This is the  Lady Nelson in Hobart.

This one was taken from my previously owned yacht "Better Than Chocolate".

A lot of rigging on the Lady Nelson.

Windeward Bound taken from the Lady Nelson when sailing on the Derwent River, Hobart.

Windeward Bound taken from my yacht. This was when we were sailing as spectator craft for the start of the Three Peak Race in the Tamar River, Tasmania.
