Woe is Me!

I found this little chap in my garden and he presented some questions to me. Was he whittled by a past tennant of the house that used to be on this block, why is he so sad looking, did that reflect the feelings of the person who carved him?  Who is AB? These initials are carved on the reverse side? I thought he deserved to be up out of the dirt and placed him in the fork of the old walnut tree.

Living on a river, quite a bit of traffic passes by. These two went down the river the day before and here they are returning upstream. The tugs remind me of my late father who was a tug master and I remember one day when he sailed the tug passed my house he put on his hooter to let me know he was there, BUT it got stuck and I can still recall how funny it was listening to him go way down river off into the distance still hooting away.

Scarlet

I've planted lots of scarlet Canna Lilies against my dark grey fence as I wanted a dramatic contrast.  I love it when a plan comes together. What plans have you had that have come together well?

Meet Nigel

Nigel sits, ponders, and reads in the garden sitting under my 60ish year old walnut tree, just as I do.

Care

Care, Hope and the Sunflowers are part of a display to bring suicide prevention especially in rural areas to the forefront of people's thoughts. It's on the road that I travel fortnightly on my way to my shack. Each year, I love to watch the progress of the sunflowers growing. Unfortunately, this year's growing season has been dry and the plants are rather short, but beautiful and give hope to all that view them.

Focus on the Garden

I thought I might do a series of photographs exploring what is happening in my garden, before everything goes to the pits for Autumn. So today we have grapes:

AND they taste delicious!!!

Hibiscus

This hibiscus is in my next door neighbours beautiful garden and the flowers are the size of dinner plates. Just lovely!  I wonder if it would grow from a cutting?

Faces of the Past

My sister came to visit and seeing that I am the custodian of our family history, she asked if she could scan some of our old photos.  This was one of my favourites. Its my Great Aunty Beryl on the left and my beloved grandmother, Gladys Venetia on the right. This photgraph was taken in 1905.
