Tall Ship Detail part 1

When the Tallships were in port, I took advantage of the opportunity to take some detail shots.

There are plenty of jobs to do, like stitching the sails.

Art Gallery Finds

Taking a break from watching the Tallships last Friday, I popped into the Long Gallery at Salamanca in Hobart to check out a old toy exhibition

This chair was made from finds from the beach and in the blue box was a collection of bird skulls also found on the beach. The artist is Jenny Chester from Bruny Island. She also made the seahorse piece below.

This was just 2 of the models made by another Bruny Island artist. They were standing among a group of about 20.

When the Boats Come In.

Hobart is the city of festivals and this week we had another one. This time it was the Tallships festival with 5 days of nautical activities. This boat is the Young Endeavour and had just sailed into port. The crew is on the yard arms.

Not all ships were tall. It was the day after Talk like a Pirate Day and this fellow was still talking like a pirate.
