Crystal Star

This is looking down a crystal vase which is sitting on orange paper. This vase brings up memories of mine as a child as I accidentally knocked it off the mantepiece. I was crying before it even hit anything hard. It bounced into the fire and onto the stone hearth and I howled imagining how mum would be so mad with me. Then I looked down and it was unharmed. I picked it up and put it back on the mantlepiece and no one except my sister and I were any the wiser, we kept it our secret all our lives.

Fun at the Beach

Even though this photo is NOT wonderfully shot and is out of focus and fuzzy, it always makes me smile because when walking on the beach this dog came bounding from between the sand dunes, went for a dip and bounded out quickly, back between the dunes, presumably home to his shack. All this time with out his owner. Since then, I have often seen dogs that just pop down for a quick dip while their owners are otherwise occupied.

Sunshining Day

Just when I thought winter was here, I was mistaken, today was just a deliciously warm, sunny day and in celebration, these are the photographs I chose today.  Maybe I will break out the sandals again after all.

Day for Rainbows

Took a trip into Hobart this morning and I looked up at Mt. Wellington and a very low rainbow was hanging about the foothills. Very pretty indeed, made up for it being so cold.

Time to Retire

My sandals that is,  earlier in the week we were copping 28 degrees C and today when driving home from work at 3.30pm it was 7degrees. An Antarctic blast has given us a taste of winter. So after fondly wearing those sandals every day for the last 5 months, I will put them away now till October.

Well Whose Place is it Then?

This "For Sale" sign appeared at the end of a driveway, down the road from my house and before I knew it many other signs popped up to join it. It's got me thinking!

Rose Petals For a Sensory Experience

As an early childhood teacher I am really aware at how a child learns through using their senses so I try to give my class lots of different sensory experiences. These petals have been collected so that my children can play in them finding glass nuggets hidden among the petals. The tactility and the aromas are just beautiful.

Glimpses Round My Garden Part 2

I think these flowers are called Rock Roses, Their petals always look they could do with a good iron.

Up through the old walnut tree. Its absolutely covered in nuts this year and they have just begun falling. You can here them bouncing on the wooden deck beneath, at night.

Sprekelia: These flowers are so prolific. 6 years ago I statred with a dozen bulbs that a friend had given me and they have multiplied so much that I have oodles of flowers running down the long driveway, I have planted some  at the shack and given some to my daughter for her garden.

The Day of The Blow Cart

Imagine my surprise when I saw this cart zipping along the beach when I looked out of the shack window.

This is a model of the house that I lived in prior to my present home. It was a deconsecrated Anglican church, built in 1907. It made a terrific home  as we were music fans and the accoustics were lovely.  The model was made from clay by a Launceston artist, Gillian Riches

Liebster Blog Awards

Last night I received a message from Evi at http://sistersun.blogspot.com.au/ to say that she has awarded me a Liebster Blog Award.  Evi and I have a mutual love of each others blogs and I thanks her very much for thinking about me. Part of the award system with this award is to honour a blog with less than 200 followers and to send it on by nominating another 5 favourite blogs. I love this as it exposes our blogs to a wider group of people. My nominations are:

Jan at http://bakers8.blogspot.com.au/ always an interesting read for me as she is a fellow Tasmanian and I love her perspective on living the simple life.

Claire at http://savingplaneta.blogspot.com.au/ is living in the way I am trying to back to. Love her fresh take on things.

Susan at http://justbesensiblesusan.blogspot.com.au takes me on her journeys through her words and pictures and I thoroughly enjoy her humour.

http://littlehouseinthecityblog.blogspot.com.au/ an enjoyable read about a young family living the simple life in the city.

http://frugaldownunder.blogspot.com.au/  a blog about frugal living, something I am right into personally at the moment.

Thanks to the bloggers above for enriching my life.

The Trip Home From The Shack

It was the clouds that made me get my camera out as the sky was doing some pretty things. We'd left black skies and a thunderstorm and 30 minutes along the road the sky is like this.

And then the storm clouds returned and it was raining in the mountains.
